Hello BGMS Parents,
This is Ms. Munguia with two additional announcements for this week. Students who are entering their
Science Fair Projects in the Willits Science Fair will bring home an intent to participate form that must be signed by you the parent, guardian, or care giver. Please ask them for it, and it must be returned to their Science teacher by Wednesday of this week. The second announcement is to tell you about the BGMS Yearbook for this year. The cover is customized with a drawing from a BGMS student, we are asking for baby pictures of students, emailed to dinah@willitsunified.com, or brought in to the office, and any parent of an eighth grader has the opportunity to buy a page dedicated to their student for 100 dollars per half page, or 150 dollars for a full page. Now is the time to buy this yearās yearbook for only 32 dollars. Soon the price will increase to 35 dollars, and at the end of the year it will increase to 45 dollars. You can order at yearbookforever.com under Baechtel Grove Middle School, or come into the office and buy one from Pam. If you have any questions about either of these announcements, call the office. Thank you for your attention and goodbye.

Hello BGMS Parents, Guardians, and Care Givers,

Thank you to the parents who attended, we hope that you learned a few strategies to try. In sports this week basketball plays Covelo, on Monday, at BGMS, all four teams, beginning at 3:30 pm. Wednesday all four teams play Mendocino, at Mendocino, beginning at 3:30 pm. The Fifth grade Parent Visitation to Baechtel Grove will be next Monday beginning at 8:10 am. We are inviting all fifth grade parents to come and experience your local community school as a valuable option for your children in their middle school years. Thank you for your attention and goodbye.

First Annual Bob Colvig Youth Wrestling Tournament going on today at the high school. Tons of people and lots of fun. Thank you to the local sponsors who helped put this on. Itās a great event.

Hello BGMS Parents,
This is Ms. Munguia with announcements for this week. I hope everyone had a Happy Martin Luther King Holiday. The next BGMS Parent Education Night is this Wednesday at 6:00 pm in the library. This discussion will be about rudeness and disrespect. A topic we can all use some useful ideas about, Jade Aldrich from FIRST 5 Mendocino will be facilitating this workshop about how we can best deal with teenage rudeness and disrespect. She is a very knowledgeable Triple P facilitator. The BGMS School Site Council meeting has been rescheduled from last week to this Thursday beginning at 3:15 pm, in the library. Also on Thursday, there will be an eighth grade parent meeting at 5:00 pm, in room 6. All eighth grade parents are encouraged to attend. In sports this week basketball plays Fort Bragg on Wednesday, boys at BGMS and girls at Fort Bragg, with games beginning at 4:00 pm. On Friday and Saturday there is a Boys B Team Tournament at Pomolita, beginning on Friday at 3:00 pm. Parents please be advised that due to the BGMS Science Fair and the judging of all the projects, progress grades for some Math and Science classes could be updated this week from the progress checks last week. If you did not receive a progress check last week, you should receive one at the beginning of this week. If you do not receive one, please call the office and we will make sure you get a progress check, but for questions about grades, please call the teacher. Thank you for your attention and goodbye.

Due to snow and weather conditions Willits unified school district will be closed today at all sites.

Hello BGMS Parents,

The community is invited to view the Science Fair projects any time from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm, in the cafeteria. Just sign in through the main office. This Tuesday is a minimum day. Students will be out of school at 1:30 pm. Thursday there will be a School Site Council meeting at 3:15 in the library. At the end of this week we are halfway through the second trimester. Parents should expect students to bring home progress checks this week from all of their core classes. Please review these carefully, and remember that there is academic assistance after school on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday after school. In sports this week, on Monday, the teams play Kelseyville, the girls at home and the boys at Kelseyville, Tuesday the B teams, only, play Willits Charter home, and on Wednesday all teams play Laytonville, the boys at home and the girls at Laytonville. As a final thought this week I want you to know that we are losing about $8,000 every month of attendance funding due to absences. That would be about $80,000 for the year. Help us to encourage students to be here every day so that they donāt lessen their opportunity for a good education. Thank you for your attention and goodbye.

Hello BGMS Parents,
This is Ms. Munguia. I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season, and that we are all ready to come back to school in this new year, tomorrow, Monday, January 6, 2020. I want to first of all remind parents that seventh and eighth graders can only take their Chromebooks home if they have purchased insurance. Only the Early High School students actually need their Chromebooks to do their homework. Most students are not doing any homework on their Chromebooks, and do not need to take them home, but everyone must bring their Chromebooks to school every day, regardless of if they think they are going to use them or not. Early High School will have a parent/student workshop on Thursday, beginning at 5:30 pm, in room 7. This will be an overview of how students should study and do homework as they move to high school. Students will be given credit for attendance. We want all parents to attend as well. I know that many students are working on their Science Fair projects. The Science Fair Boards are due this Friday, January 10th, to be handed in to the Science Teacher. We will have the BGMS Science Fair judging on January 13th, next Monday. If you would like to help by judging the projects, please call the school, and leave a message for Ms. Hendrix. In sports this week, on Monday all four basketball teams play Mendocino at home beginning at 3:30 with the Girls B team. Tuesday only the Boys play. They play Upper Lake at Upper Lake beginning at 4:00 pm. On Wednesday the basketball teams play Kelseyville, the girls at home and the boys at Kelseyville, beginning at 4:00 pm. Thank you for your attention and goodbye.

Hello BGMS Parents,
This is Ms. Munguia with announcements for this week. I appreciate all those parents who have taken time to meet with teachers about the achievement of their student during the first trimester, and planning for the second trimester. Thank you also for helping us celebrate the achievement of our Honor Roll, and Principalās list students at the Honors Assemblies. Tuesday is a regular day this week, but Friday is a minimum day with a release of students at 1:30 pm. Tuesday the AR Goal Achievers take a field trip to the Noyo Theatre to watch a movie, as a reward for their efforts. Thursday the BGMS Site Council will meet, in the library, beginning at 3:15 pm. We are asking all parents to please take a short parent survey that has a link on the BGMS website. This will help us to improve the service that BGMS provides the community of Willits. This week in sports the basketball teams play Pomolita on Monday, the girls at home and the boys at Pomolita, beginning at 4:30 pm. Tuesday, only the boys play Upper Lake at home, beginning at 4:00 pm. Wednesday both, boys and girls, play River Oak Charter at home beginning at 4:30 pm, and on Friday and Saturday the boys seventh grade B team has a tournament at Coyote Valley beginning at 6:00 pm on Friday. The students will be on winter break beginning Monday December 23rd for two weeks. We hope that all of our families have a joyful holiday season, a very happy New Yearās celebration, and we will see everyone back on January 6th of 2020. Thank you for your attention and goodbye.

Hello BGMS Parents,
This is Ms. Munguia will announcement for this week. We hope that everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving Day, and break, with lots of food and fun. As we move further into the second trimester, I want to remind parents what students have for homework. Every student should be reading 30 pages of their AR book every night, and they have Math homework four days a week, Monday through Thursday. In sports this week we have three days of Basketball games. Tuesday the teams play Eagle Peak, the boys at home, and the girls at Eagle Peak, including the girls C team. On Wednesday, the teams play Fort Bragg, the girls at home, and the boys at Fort Bragg. On Thursday only the girls play Upper Lake at Upper Lake. For all of these days the games begin at 4:00 pm. We would like every parent to take the time to read the information in the BGMS Parent Newsletter sent in the mail with your studentās report card. Thank you for your attention and good bye.

Hello BGMS Parents, This is Ms. Munguia with a correction for the trimester 1 report cards that you have received, or will shortly receive in the mail. The total grade point average, or GPA, is not calculated correctly on the report cards that were sent in the mail. We had an error in how the GPA was calculated. If you have access to Aeries and look under grades for your student, that calculation is correct. If you do not have access to Aeries, or would like us to send a corrected copy home, please call the office and we will give a copy to your student when we return on December 2nd. Have an enjoyable week off, and a happy Thanksgiving Day. Thank you for your attention and goodbye.

Air Quality grant provided WUSD with another new bus. Great addition to the fleet.

Hello BGMS Parents,
This is Ms. Munguia with announcements for this week. Thank you to our eighth grade band parents for supporting the participation of our eighth Grade Band in their excellent performance at the Willits High School football game on Friday, and their high standard of representing our Music Program, and our School. Tomorrow at the start of the second trimester we have rearranged teaching assignments at the seventh grade level to allow implementation of program to support more scholarly behavior in our classrooms. As a result many of the seventh grade class schedules will change. If your student comes home with a different class schedule, and you have questions please call our office. Also remember that all Exploratories at the trimester, and some seventh period support classes may change as well. This week we begin the seasonās basketball games with all four teams travelling to Covelo on Monday, with game times starting at 3:30 pm. On Wednesday the girls teams travel to Pomolita to begin their games at 5:00 pm, and the boys are home with the C team starting at 4:00 pm. Then on Friday and Saturday the girls A team plays in a tournament at Pomolita, beginning at 5:00pm on Friday. The BGMS School Site Council meeting will take place this Thursday at 3:25 pm. We will be discussing the School Safety Plan. All of next week is our Thanksgiving break. We wish everyone a fun, family filled Thanksgiving time. And finally we sadly need to inform our school community and staff members that our friend and loving teacher Ms. Materne, has recently passed away. Next week we will have emotional support groups in place and available for those in need of emotional support and conversation. We would also like to honor Ms. Materne by having a moment of silence on Thursday in memory and recognition of her work here in the Willits Unified School District. We are sending this message so that you can inform your child if they are not already aware of the situation. As a community we feel it is important to honor those that cared enough to teach the children in our community. Thank you for your attention and goodbye.
