Dear 4th Grade Families and Students,
We hope you are well and in good health. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication to your children.
We know you have questions about what the start of the school year will look like and for that reason we arranged for step-by-step instruction and support by means of parent-teacher conferences. During this first week, teachers will explain how and when assignments will be delivered, what the expectations will be for instruction, and supplies and curriculum will be handed out. While you await your conference please prepare for distance learning mode by having your child begin to Read! Read! Read! At least 30 min per day. Furthermore, consider making a space for their learning. Create a special, personalized corner of a room dedicated to learning, creating, and reading. Use a movable box or crate if space is precious. Let your child help prepare the space for school, even if that just means putting a decorated pencil box next to the device they'll be using. Getting the space ready will help them get ready to learn.
In addition, set a routine. Have them follow a routine as if they're going to school (getting dressed, brushing teeth, etc.) instead of lying in bed in their pajamas, which could lead to less learning. Once you have met with your child’s teacher you can explore the information that you are given. Please rest assured that they will not be missing out if their conference isn’t scheduled until later in the week. We thank you for your patience and support as we launch this virtual learning experience.
